| Wanting more flexibility and upgrade possibilities than a stand alone BluRay player could give, I built my own HTPC. I'm not a fan of Intel, so AMD was the way to go.
AMD's 4200+ was the perfect answer for my needs and Tiger's price was the perfect match for my budget. I plugged it into a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H with built in HDMI support and added 2g of Corsair PC6400 DDR2 800MHz.
About 5 hours ago my Sony BDU-X10S BD ROM Drive arrived (Cyberlink Power DVD included). A half hour after that, I was watching my first BluRay movie. My wide screen is a little older and supports 720p and 1080i, so the Gigabyte's onboard AMD video works fine, but if I move up to 1080p, I'll have to add an AMD PCIe video card. Disney's Cars had an occassional ''jerkiness'', but WB's Omega Man played clean. I still have a bunch of movies to try, but, so far, this setup seems to be a great way to break into high def without breaking the bank. |

| This is the best dual core cpu ever used , tell you the truth it's even better than intel C2D @ 2.13Ghz that I used before this, for me this cpu load Collin Mcrea: Dirt better and faster, my favourite racing game. I use this cpu with 2GB dual channel crucial ballistic 800Mhz with geforce 8600GT XXX edition, I'm very happy with this AMD cpu |

| This is my first dual core processor, and I am VERY impressed. I've had a Athlon 64 3800 in my laptop with is amazingly fast for a laptop, but the X2 just far outdoes the regular Athlon 64. The fan that comes with the processor seems to be quite quiet and more than adequate. Playing Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed for more than 3 hours only netted me a highest temp of about 30*C. |
